[Nexuiz Ninjaz] Servers in Washington DC (last updated 09-15-09)

[size=x-large]Intro to the Nexuiz Ninjaz Washington, DC Servers[/size]
The Nexuiz Ninjaz servers are now located in Washington, DC, USA on a low latency connection that allows west coast USA and EU to have relatively low pings (~80-100 and ~100-150 respectively). The servers report chat to [url=irc://irc.quakenet.org/nn.servers]#nn.servers on irc.quakenet.org[/url]. I, -z-, run these servers. These servers are under current development. Expect the system to evolve. I manage these in my free time and consider this a hobby so not everything is done as fast as you wish but certainly as soon as I can. That means they are [b][color=#95A639]BETA[/color][/b]. They [color=#95A639]aren't perfect[/color]. Complaining about them through any other means than the various ways I've provided above is a great way to get me to not listen to you or your opinion. They will be laggy from time to time, they may have texture problems once in a while. They might crash every now and then but THIS does not give you the right to talk to address me like you've contracted me to write you software. This is a service I provide at the cost off my and the various supporters own money, our time, efforts and other means of contribution are driven by the love for the game and its surrounding interests.

Spreading hate or negative energy anywhere within these realms is not tolerated. Be constructive in your criticism. Keep the love alive.

Intentionally team-killing: Warning and kick, Kickban if repeated
Intentionally typefragging: Warning, then kick, Kickban if repeated
Bigotry/hate speech: Warning, then mute, if in name/handle, kick/kickban
Constant flaming other players: mute
Evading mute by rejoining or calling votes: kick, if repeated, kickban
Votespamming: vote stop, warning, kick
Logging in as master if you weren't given master by -z-: kickban
Cheating of any kind: Permaban

A learning and training server with voteable game types and a whole mess of maps. The default back to "the dojo" map and settings, drop console (shift+esc) and [color=#FFFF00]vcall thedojo[/color].

Please be extra respectful of other people's skill levels on this server. Don't attack anyone that doesn't want to fight, try to make sure everyone can have a good time :).

Team and Speed focused Capture the Flag.

[size=medium]Some Details on Scoring[/size]

The CTF Nexuiz Ninjaz servers are running with a new type of scoring that promotes teamwork and playing the field (defense, midfield, offense). 7 flag captures to win, points are a secondary scoring system. The "strangest" part about this system is the [b]NEGATIVE POINTS for a flag pickup[/b]. This is to discourage players from repeatedly grabbing the flag and dying. Encouraging them to think about their teammates and the current situation of the game.

[b]base_flag_pickup[/b] -3
This acts as a deposit because the flag carrier assumes a risk. This is to discourage players from repeatedly grabbing the flag and dying.

[b]world_flag_pickup[/b] +1 for every 3 seconds the flag is down
This is to protect against a camper situation, if a sniper were to kill a flag carrier and his teammate picked it up, if this was a set number like 5, it would negate the sniper's earnings.

[b]carrier_kill[/b] 3
Because this deserves a reward

[b]flag_drop[/b] -2
Because this deserves a punishment

[b]flag_return[/b] 5
This deserves a reward, but not as much as the kill. The most a player can get for a fc kill/return would then be 8.

[b]flag_cap[/b] 28
To compensate for the deposit, fc gets 25 points.


[b]Match time[/b] 12 minutes
I believe 20 minutes is too long. 10 minutes feels just a little too short. The 2 minutes after the 10 minute mark I believe gives players that added incentive of an obvious 2 minute window to player hard and fast.

[b]score to win[/b] 7 caps
This may need altering but I think this feels about right for most maps.

Keyhunt is a game where you try and collect all the keys with your team. It's like dynamic capture the flag.
