RE: The Dojo-- My idea for a teaching map
I really like where you are going with this. The design is unique and compliments the website theme as you said. The black makes things a little confusing, you might want to give it a texture or a maybe make some of it reflective like on the map moonstone?
Inspire your neighbor, they'll inspire you back. The things you did with the icons swirling above the teleporters is fabulous. I shared with you my idea of challenges for each skill or 'jutsu' but I will repeat it here for everyone else. I would like to have for example, in the laser room, pillars in lava and the player has to laser from one to the next and finally reach the goal. There should be flags available to allow the player to time themselves and warps back to the main room upon completion. Also, I'd like to make you a graphic for 'the dojo' when I get back. Keep up the great work :) maps.nn | pics.nn | chat.nn | 2.5 cvar browser |

-z- Wrote:I really like where you are going with this. The design is unique and compliments the website theme as you said. Thank you! :D -z- Wrote:The black makes things a little confusing, you might want to give it a texture or a maybe make some of it reflective like on the map moonstone? I've taken a look around the moonstone shader file....It's impossible to find a shiny texture as found in moonstone. But, I took a look at the DSIGlass texture, took out the transparency, and the shine from that is fine. Also, I plan to add a skybox, as I have said in IRC. Upon addition of the skybox, the wall textures will be much more simple, maybe a black-to-grey gradient with grey being at the top. -z- Wrote:The things you did with the icons swirling above the teleporters is fabulous. Once again, thanks -z- Wrote:I would like to have for example, in the laser room, pillars in lava and the player has to laser from one to the next and finally reach the goal. I will do that. -z- Wrote:Also, I'd like to make you a graphic for 'the dojo' when I get back. Ok, the dimensions for the filler "thedojo" image are 1000x300, so if you follow those dimensions, and have a similar grey color as background, it should fit smoothly! |

RE: The Dojo-- My idea for a teaching map
Alright, the thread is updated, with new pictures and a newer version of the map! If you can, I need all the ideas that I can get, so if you have even a small idea, i can probably work it into the map.

RE: The Dojo-- My idea for a teaching map
You know the Matrix film? The "infamous" fight between Neo and Morpheus in a training place just after Neo learnt all the ninjaz stuffs? That place would be really cool to modify in ur current map to look like that, with 2 or 3 floors (levels) on the side of the room so that newbies can be taught how to laser jump to there?
The Labour Party decided to change its logo from a rose to a condom, believing it accurately reflects their policies. This is because a condom allows for inflation, halts productions, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security whilst you're being fucked.
Just throwing balls here :) |

There's already a place for laser jumping, and I've only seen the matrix once, and that was when I was younger. I don't seem to remember that fight. But thanks for the ideas, although that one is a bit extreme XD Sven Wrote:I like the futuristic design Thanks Sven XD |

RE: The Dojo-- My idea for a teaching map
Nice... looking much better.
Inspire your neighbor, they'll inspire you back.- The bunny hopping room is on the right track, maybe make it longer and start increasing the space in between the pads much like quake 3 defrag maps... check out the map "santastansanta" for such pads. - The laser room has the right concept but I can jump from pad to pad. I think you should spread it out more, maybe make it longer and ~force~ the player to laser from one pillar to the next - The strafing room again is on the right track but I think it needs to be spread out a little more, maybe add multiple pathways - The weapon room, I think the line of weapons should be spread apart a little more to avoid having players pick up two sets of weapons each Overall, I like the improvements, the map is really starting to come together. The reflections on the avatars looks great. The pillars however, may cause too much lag for players with less than great graphics card. Keep up the good work. I'll be able to give you better feedback when I'm on my desktop. Well, not really too much lag from those...It's faked, if you know what i mean. It's a pillar of DSIGlass texture infront of the actual pillar itself. And, I'll get to work on that stuff immediately XD |
